Principles and Approaches
The need to play is fundamental to every human being. Personal development is an artistic process that requires active involvement. By an increased awareness of the senses we learn to consciously experience, identify and structure the world around us. By putting intuitive understanding into an image, a dance, or a poem, we connect to their own inner world, to others and to our environment.
Oral communication and the use of pictures, symbols, physical objects and group memory are emphasised, and the importance of rituals and routine are explored. A variety of forms and expressions are used, such as sculpture, drama, dance, music, puppetry, sports, writing stories and poetry, as well as circus and acrobatics.
Approaches are identified that are suitable for the culture of the participants and the starting point is always the existing situation and the available resources and competencies.
A Programme à la Carte can be organized in workshop settings of one to five days. Our approach is also useful as a methodology to coach a project over a longer period. It can be used with individuals in competency based learning and as part of a personal development plan. It can be implemented with different budgets.
