Interim and Temporary Management
The Needs
Funding agencies and INGOs may see their long term partners go into a prolonged crisis. They would like to assist, but do not have the mandate or capacity to intervene directly. At the same time they see their investment increasingly at risk.
Organisations can face problems related to personality issues, donor withdrawal and competency problems. A team building exercise or visioning workshop may not always be enough to create solutions and what is sometimes needed are seasoned professionals who take up temporary management positions. Even if there is no immediate crisis, there can be a sudden gap on a senior management level which needs to be filled temporarily until a long term appointment can be concluded.
DevAct can provide interim and temporary management
An NGO or INGO country programme can experience a crisis related to funding withdrawal, personality conflicts, sudden resignations or underperformance on senior levels that cannot be solved through workshops. This sometimes leads to programme closure or to prolonged organisational dysfunction. A hands-on intervention by a seasoned manager with a track record in NGO management can assist management teams or Boards to work through difficult decisions and restructure organisations, or to bridge essential operational gaps.
