Who we are
The DevAct Team is consists of a group of independent development professionals. Most of us are citizens or long term residents of South Africa and Botswana. All of us bring many years of senior management experience and programmatic skills to the group.
Bridging Gaps
What we share is a realisation that there are large gaps between the expectations and understanding of donors, international agencies and governments and the capacities, dynamics and priorities of grassroots organisations and of other local non-profits. And we believe that amongst us we have the ability to offer bridges to cross some of these gaps in practical ways.
Shared Grassroots Experience
What we have in common too is experience in working directly within and for local and international civil society organisations in different parts of the world. We know what it means to be part of a local structure, to work with multiple donors with different agendas, to navigate the dilemmas around capacity building for fractured and marginalised community groups and local NGOs. Many of us have lived for years amongst the people we serve and have been accountable to local and community Boards.
